Here’s the thing about pasture – there’s rarely one magic fix.
You can spray the weeds. Throw some fertiliser around. Spread a bag of seed and wait for rain.
And sometimes, you’ll get a result.
But if the soil is compacted, the nutrition is wrong, the weeds are winning or the right grasses simply aren’t there, you’re probably only fixing part of the problem.
That’s why we look at the whole paddock.
What’s growing? What’s not? What’s happening below the ground? What stock are you running? And most importantly – what are you actually trying to achieve?
From there, we build a practical plan around your property.
That might mean controlling weeds first. Improving soil nutrition. Relieving compaction. Introducing better pasture species through direct drilling.
Sometimes it’s all of the above.
The trick is doing the right things, in the right order, at the right time.
Because a better paddock isn’t built overnight.
It’s built by understanding the land, working with what you’ve already got and steadily tipping the balance in favour of the pasture you actually want.

About Us
It started with a love of the land.
For me, agriculture wasn’t something I discovered when I started this business. It’s something I’ve been around for most of my life.
I grew up on a mixed farming property around sheep, cropping, machinery and the day-to-day reality of looking after land. I later attended agricultural school, building on that practical experience with a broader understanding of farming and primary production.
Some of my best lessons, though, came from simply being around good farmers.
Watching how they read a season. How they knew their country. How they could look across a paddock and notice something wasn’t quite right before anyone else did.
My path eventually took me away from farming for a while, including serving in the Australian Army with 2 RAR. But the connection to agriculture never really disappeared.
Eventually, I found my way back to it.
JD Slashing & Pasture Management started small – one tractor, a slasher and a willingness to have a crack. But as I’ve worked across more properties, I’ve kept learning, investing in better equipment and becoming increasingly interested in what actually makes a paddock perform.
Today, that same curiosity is shaping where the business is heading.
It’s becoming less about simply maintaining land and more about understanding it – bringing together soil, pasture, weeds, nutrition and practical management to leave properties better than we found them.
There’s still plenty to learn. I don’t think that ever stops in agriculture.
And that’s probably the part I enjoy most.
